Early Years Classes at Inspire

In our Pre School classes the children start their dance journey by learning ballet and tap in a fun, nurturing environment. We build confidence, independence, develop use of imagination and creativity whilst using props, singing songs and beginning to learn the basic ballet and tap steps. Children develop musicality, balance, co-ordination and begin to explore rhythm and develop strength in these classes.

Little Stars - 18 months to 3yrs.

Little Stars is the perfect way for your little one's dance journey to begin. In our LITTLE STARS classes, children and their grown ups dance, sing, move, laugh and make special memories through the joy of movement!

The 30 minute classes are carefully designed to build confidence, develop rhythm, co-ordination, a love for music, spatial awareness, balance, and begin to learn the dance fundamentals in a fun, imaginative way!  Babies sing before they can talk and dance before they can walk - we can't wait to welcome you and you little ones to our LITTLE STARS classes. Suitable for little ones 18 months - 3 years.

Shooting Stars - 3-4 yrs

In our Shooting Stars classes the children continue their dance journey by learning ballet and tap in a fun, nurturing environment. We build confidence, independence, develop use of imagination and creativity whilst using props, singing songs and beginning to learn the basic ballet and tap steps. Children develop musicality, balance, co-ordination and begin to explore rhythm and develop strength in these classes. This is a progression from our Little Stars classes and the children attend independently. Suitable for children 3-4yrs.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all styles of dance. Our classes follow the IDTA syllabus. Classical technique helps to improve posture, balance, poise and co-ordination as well as building physical strength and technique. It also develops self-discipline and self-awareness as well as building self-confidence. At Inspire we offer the opportunity to take IDTA Ballet exams.

Tap

Our Tap classes encourage students to have fun exploring different rhythms whilst developing excellent co-ordination and learning a wide range of steps.  As they progress, students develop their style with more emphasis on speed of footwork, syncopation, improvisation and stage presence.  At Inspire we offer the opportunity to take IDTA tap exams.

Contemporary Modern Jazz

The IDTA have just launched a brand new Contemporary Modern Jazz syllabus,  it is a technical and theatrical form of dance. A fun and energetic dance style which incorporates lots of different styles including Lyrical, Contemporary and jazz. Modern Dance encourages freedom of expression giving students the opportunity to be creative with choreography.

Street Dance/Commercial

Street Dance is a stylish and dynamic form of dance, encouraging students to move with expression, energy and attack. Routines incorporate many strong, isolated movements as well as travelling steps and floor work. We also challenge the students by focusing on flexibility and strength alongside building the technical elements such as kicks, leaps and turns. At Inspire, we offer the opportunity to take IDTA Street dance exams.

Theatre Works

Our Theatre Works classes are a combination of Musical Theatre and Drama. We work on singing, acting and movement within these classes. We learn songs and routines from musicals, develop  improvisation skills working both in groups and independently. We have fun working on creative writing, directing, speech work. Our theatre works classes build confidence; developing a sense of stage presence and performance skills. We also, of course, play fun games!

Pointe Work

Whilst pointe work is not required until IDTA Intermediate level, we provide these sessions for those students who wish to learn pointe work alongside their Graded class. Getting pointe shoes is a significant moment in a young dancer’s life and requires a secure level of strength and technique; each student will be assessed individually to determine the right time for them to get their first pair of pointe shoes.

Contemporary

Contemporary Dance is all about expressing emotion through movement and unrestricted lines. Incorporating elements of Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet and Modern dance, Contemporary is a fusion of dance styles which allows students to express themselves in a unique way.

Acrobatic Arts

Our pupils will learn Acrobatics skills with careful, informative teaching that encourages safe practice and longevity in the young dancer’s body. The class helps to develop strength and flexibility and follows logical and effective progressions, leading towards more sophisticated skills. The Acrobatics Arts Syllabus was developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more which is why it is proving to be so successful. The children will love these classes as they are challenging, rewarding and most of all lots of fun. Classes available for children age 4+

How does it work?

We run a 2 hour session in which children from age 4 - 17 work collaboratively on dance, drama and singing skills each week.

We differentiate the lesson for the varying ages and abilities but find that working as one group works brilliantly as the older pupils are role models to the younger children, and the younger children learn alot from the older ones.

Each term we work towards a production to showcase to family and friends. It includes working and developing a script and characters, learning dances and singing songs within the production.

We run a craft activity to end our sessions which is linked to the production we're working on so we may be making props, or designing set for the last part of the session, it's a really mindful way to end the session and our pupils look forward to it every week!

Where and When?

We meet every Wednesday 1-3pm during term time at St Nicholas community centre, Beverley.

We have two brilliant classes on offer for children Age 4 – 17yrs.

We offer a FREE trial for both sessions to ensure we’re the right fit for your children.
